Job Description

This is a really exciting opportunity to lead an Electrical Engineering team within Thames Water's Asset Management and Engineering Team, reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager. Our main goal is to achieve Thames Water’s AMP8 goals and beyond.

In this vital position, you will ensure and oversee engineering regulatory compliance for relevant electrical assets across Thames Water. You will also review and approve electrical designs to guarantee the most cost-effective solutions for our expanding infrastructure.

Your leadership will be crucial in contributing to the continuous improvement of Technical Asset Standards and developing a team of experts in their respective fields.

What you’ll be doing as a Principal Electrical Engineer
  • Lead, mentor and develop an Electrical design team.
  • Review technical requirements in the project technical briefs to ensure they are accurate.
  • Review or approve Electrical designs as appropriate.
  • Input and continuously improve Technical Asset Standards.

This role will be at Clearwater Court or Hampton Coal Wharf, Hybrid. You must attend the office and sites as needed for the role and business.

36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Must be a driver and have access to a car; this role does come with a car allowance.

What you should bring to the role
  • Degree level or equivalent with professional chartership likely in your Engineering Discipline.
  • A recognised leader with extensive Electrical Engineering experience, covering both High Voltage and Low Voltage Systems,  ideally with meaningful experience in the water industry.
  • Knowledge and experience of ICA Engineering and its impact on Electrical Engineering design.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our engineering regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of the technology to improve solutions and improve safety.
  • Ability to promptly deal with complex inaccuracies or discrepancies in documentation and specifications.

  • This role will come with a car allowance of £5.800.
  • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 days per year, with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
