Compliance Manager – Apprenticeships & Commercial Training

We are supporting one of the UK’s leading training providers, rated Good by Ofsted and supporting over 2,000 apprentices nationwide. Due to an upcoming retirement, they are seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to lead compliance and audit across Apprenticeships and Commercial Training. This senior role offers autonomy, influence, and the opportunity to shape compliance strategy in a values-led, learner-focused organisation.Role Details
  • Line management: 2 × Compliance Coordinators
  • Location: Home-based, with monthly SMT meetings in London (fully expensed)
  • Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Salary: £42,500 – £46,000 per annum

Purpose of the Role
As Compliance Manager, you will lead the organisation’s compliance and audit function, ensuring full adherence to government funding rules and contractual requirements. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will act as the subject matter expert for all regulatory and audit requirements while maintaining excellent internal and external service levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead compliance across all government-funded apprenticeship contracts
  • Interpret and implement DfE funding rules, with final sign-off from the Transformation Director
  • Prepare for and manage external audits and internal audit schedules
  • Manage the DfE risk register and ensure ILR accuracy using FRM, PDSAT, and DLOCK reports
  • Develop and maintain policies, compliance reports, and training programmes
  • Act as main contact for internal/external audits and collaborate with the Davies Group audit team
  • Ensure accurate data management in the MIS (Aptem experience desirable)
  • Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes and documentation
  • Manage compliance for new contracts and historic funding streams as required

Skills & Experience
  • Proven Compliance Manager (or similar) experience in an Independent Training Provider
  • Essential: Hands-on experience ensuring ILR accuracy and evidence monitoring using FRM, PDSAT, and DLOCK reports
  • Strong knowledge of apprenticeship compliance, DfE funding rules, and audit requirements
  • Experience managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Aptem MIS experience desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data protection
  • Confident in producing and presenting analytical reports
  • Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently
  • Flexible and resilient, able to manage competing priorities
