Carpenter Council / Social Housing Properties
We are seeking a skilled and reliable
Carpenter to carry out responsive and planned maintenance works across council and social housing properties. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality carpentry repairs and installations while providing excellent customer service to tenants.
Key Duties & Responsibilities- Carry out a wide range of carpentry works within occupied and void council and social housing properties
- Install, repair, and maintain:
- Doors, frames, locks, and ironmongery
- Skirting boards, architraves, kitchens, cupboards, and shelving
- Flooring, fencing, and minor roofing works
- Undertake reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and refurbishment works
- Work to drawings, job tickets, and specifications
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations and council standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy working environment
- Communicate effectively with tenants, supervisors, and office staff
- Accurately complete job sheets and reports using handheld devices or paperwork
- Identify and report any additional repair needs or safeguarding concerns
Essential Requirements- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Carpentry or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience working within council, local authority, or social housing environments
- Strong knowledge of repairs and maintenance in domestic properties
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of health & safety and safe working practices
Desirable- Experience working in occupied homes
- Multi-skilled trade experience
- Asbestos awareness (training provided if required)
- CSCS card
