Pay Rate: £30 per hour (umbrella)
Contract: Temporary (ongoing)
We are currently seeking an experienced Homeless Prevention Visiting Officer to join a busy Housing Solutions service in South East London. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive officer with strong case management and tenancy sustainment experience to support vulnerable residents and prevent homelessness within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide early-intervention, outreach, and home-visiting support to residents at risk of homelessness.
- Carry out robust assessments in line with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017).
- Develop Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs) and implement effective prevention strategies.
- Engage with landlords, support providers, and partner agencies to sustain tenancies and resolve housing issues.
- Manage a caseload of complex clients, maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely progression of cases.
- Offer expert advice on housing rights, welfare benefits, arrears management, and homelessness duties.
- Previous experience as a Housing Options / Homelessness Prevention Officer or similar local authority role.
- Strong knowledge of HRA 2017, homelessness legislation, and case law.
- Confident conducting home visits and working autonomously in the community.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage high-volume caseloads.
