We're recruiting for a skilled professional to join a well-resourced Family Support and Protection Team in the North West. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and forward-thinking local authority, where your time is valued, your caseload is manageable, and your professional development is a priority.
About the Role
As part of the Family Support and Protection Service, you'll manage a diverse caseload that includes:
- Children on Child Protection Plans
- Children requiring Care and Support
- Families involved in Care Proceedings

What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you’ll need to be compassionate, resilient, and confident in managing complex situations.
✅ Registered with Social Work England
✅ A degree in Social Work (or equivalent – SW, CSS, DipSW)
✅ 4+ years post-qualified experience in statutory children’s services
✅ Strong understanding of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures
✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
✅ Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment
✅ A commitment to promoting positive change and long-term outcomes for children
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out strength-based assessments to identify risks and needs
- Develop and implement child-centred care plans
- Work in partnership with families and external agencies
- Use legal frameworks to safeguard and promote wellbeing
- Provide mentoring and support to students and unqualified staff where appropriate
