Qualified Social Worker with a passion for fostering and leadership? Weβre working with a proactive local authority in the
North East who are seeking a
Team Manager to lead their
Fostering South Team on a 12-month interim basis.Β This is an exciting opportunity to step into a key leadership role, supporting the professional development of fostering social workers and ensuring high-quality, compliant service delivery for foster carers and looked-after children.
π Due to the nature of this role,
on-site presence is required for at least 2 days per week. π§ About the Role As
Team Manager, you'll lead a team responsible for the regulatory compliance and ongoing support of
mainstream foster carers in the South of the County. Youβll work closely with a
Social Work Consultant (deputy manager) and senior leadership to ensure the fostering service meets statutory and inspection standards.
Your responsibilities will include:

Leading a team of fostering social workers
- β
Providing supervision, guidance, and professional development support
- β
Overseeing statutory fostering functions, including foster carer reviews and approvals
- β
Ensuring compliance with fostering regulations, national minimum standards, and local policies
- β
Driving high-quality performance and quality assurance across the team
- β
Supporting positive outcomes for children through stable placements
- β
Contributing to audits, service planning, and strategic improvement initiatives
π€ Who Weβre Looking For Youβll be a confident leader with a solid background in fostering or childrenβs services and a passion for improving outcomes for children in care.
You will need:
- β A Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England
- β Proven experience managing or supervising within fostering or childrenβs social work
- β Strong understanding of fostering regulations, safeguarding, and statutory duties
- β A commitment to best practice, continuous improvement, and team development
- β Excellent communication and leadership skills
- β The ability to balance operational demands with strategic oversight
