This ongoing and full-time opportunity allows you to work intensively with children and young people, aged 10-18 years, who are at immediate risk of entering the care system. What you will do:
- Work closely with children and families to prevent family relationship breakdowns and aim to keep children from entering care.
- Implement evidence-based interventions through individual and family sessions designed to meet specific needs.
- Carry out detailed assessments and create child-centred care plans reflecting the child's perspective and requirements.
- Engage with families regularly via home visits, community sessions, and multi-agency meetings.
- Develop trusting relationships with children, particularly those who have experienced trauma and may approach professionals with caution.
- Provide expert guidance to colleagues regarding complex family issues and trauma-informed practices.
- Participate in evaluating and enhancing the Edge of Care service by utilising reflective and data-informed approaches.
- Collaborate effectively with multi-agency partners for a comprehensive support system.
- Ensure accurate and timely upkeep of case records in compliance with statutory and local guidelines.
- Uphold Barnsley Children's Services' values, prioritising the safety and well-being of children and young people.
Essential Requirements:- Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma in Social Work) and Social Work England registration.
- Substantial post-qualifying experience with children and families in statutory or intensive support settings.
- Expertise in handling complex cases involving trauma, neurodiversity, and resistant behaviours.
- Comprehensive knowledge of family dynamics, child protection, and legal frameworks.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to engage families towards achieving beneficial outcomes.
- Commitment to strength-based, relationship-led, and trauma-informed methodologies.
- Flexibility to work evenings and some weekends as family needs dictate.
- Enhanced DBS clearance and a valid UK driving licence are essential.
