Location: South West
Pay rate:   £42.50 per hour

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a registered social worker with a local authority in the South East. You will have a recognised social work qualification as well as a minimum of 5 years’ post qualifying experience. To act as the Designated Officer for the Local Authority on all matters relating to allegations made against those that work with children, in order that the Local Authority can comply with the responsibilities and functions as set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (DfE). To respond effectively and confidently to allegations made against professionals, volunteers and carers across the Children’s workforce. To ensure that timescales are met in holding strategy meetings and investigation processes in accordance with the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) Allegations Against Professionals, Volunteers and Carers Procedure and undertake the monitoring and evaluation of this process. To support development work in specific areas around safeguarding priorities as they emerge.

The purpose of the job: To ensure that organisations respond to allegations against those working with children in accordance with relevant procedures. To work collaboratively with all relevant organisations and schools in promoting and developing good practice in working with children to safeguard and promote their welfare. To resolve any inter-agency issues that arise in managing the process of investigating allegations against those working with children to Liaise with the LSCB on this subject.

As a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) you will:
  • Promote the protection of children and young people from harm and abuse.
  • Provide leadership in own area of responsibility.
  • Lead, chair and facilitate meetings.
  • Manage, present and share information, records and reports to support decision making. • Develop and manage your own resources.
  • Work within multi disciplinary and multi-organisational teams, networks and systems.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with quality assurance systems

Perfect candidate will be:
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work Engald .
  • Experienced in working with children and families including those from vulnerable groups.
  • Creative, flexible and forward thinking in approach.
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Constantly striving for continuous improvement to provide the best outcomes for children.
  • Able to use excellent mediation and negotiation skills on behalf of service users.
  • Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans
  • Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service
  • Experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary, interagency basis
  • 4 Years plus Qualified
In this role you will:
  • Use skills, knowledge, and experience to make full assessment of risks protection and social care needs.
  • Manage an agreed case load.
  • Use specialist communication skills to achieve optimum outcomes for service users.
  • Devise individual care plans, taking account of diversity and promoting dignity and empowerment.
  • Offer advice and support to unqualified staff and students to assist development.
