Salary: £12.21-£15.95 per hour
Contract: Temporary (14 September 2025 – 28 November 2025)
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30)

This temporary role offers a meaningful opportunity to provide vital support to bereaved families, funeral directors, and hospitals during a critical time, ensuring a sensitive and efficient service.
About the Role
As an Administrative Assistant in the Coroner’s Service, you’ll play a key role in delivering compassionate and professional support to service users. Working closely with the Coroner Service Manager and administrative team, your duties will include:
- Answering and fielding telephone calls and emails from bereaved families, funeral directors, hospitals, and other stakeholders.
- Providing assistance to Senior, Area, and Assistant Coroners as required.
- Performing general administrative tasks, such as handling incoming mail and scanning documents.
- Supporting the council’s commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Undertaking additional duties as directed by the Service Director to ensure an efficient service.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Strong customer service experience, ideally handling sensitive communications.
- Excellent telephone and administrative skills, with the ability to manage queries professionally.
- Completion of a basic Welsh Language Induction (Level 1) or willingness to undertake it.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, following procedures and legislation.
- Candidates must provide a CV, 2 years of references/work history, and a Confidentiality Agreement.
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar environment (e.g., court setting).
- Welsh language skills (Level 2–5, per RCT’s Welsh Language Skills Guidance).
