Contract: Temporary (26/05/2025 – 24/08/2025)
Hours: 43 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 07:30–17:00)

Are you passionate about maintaining beautiful public spaces? Do you thrive in an active, outdoor role? Carmarthenshire Council is seeking a dedicated Grounds Operative to deliver high-quality grounds maintenance across parks, schools, playing fields, and open spaces.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform general maintenance, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and upkeep of sports areas to approved standards.
- Maintain artificial and natural pitches, including basic setting out and marking.
- Clean public facilities such as changing rooms, toilets, parks, and playgrounds.
- Safely operate handheld tools, powered vibrating machinery, light plant, tractors, and tow trailers.
- Apply pesticides responsibly, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and COSHH regulations.
- Conduct visual inspections of playground equipment and maintain accurate records.
- Work independently or as part of a team, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Take responsibility for allocated resources and guide trainees or other staff as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Fit and in good health, with the physical ability to perform demanding outdoor tasks.
- Resident of Carmarthenshire.
- Full UK driver’s licence and confidence in driving (experience towing trailers is a plus).
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, COSHH regulations, and safe working practices.
- Experience in gardening or grounds maintenance.
- Ability to work unsupervised, manage tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills for liaising with colleagues and the public.
Desirable:
- NPTC PA6A certification.
- First Aid qualification.
- Training in machinery use.
