Job Description

Network Recruitment Wales are recruiting for the following role on behalf of one of our clients. We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to cover work in an Occupational Therapy Team. The role will include completing assessments for complex equipment and adaptations in people’s homes. There will be a focus on completing manual handling assessments, so you will need to have experience of completing these and writing up plans to be used by care staff. The service is currently looking at ensuring that care packages are right sized, so understanding of person centered care leading to decisions about whether single or double handed care required is also beneficial.

You must have at least Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent and have HCPC registration

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The job description refers to the principal duties and responsibilities of the Post. It does not necessarily list in detail all the tasks required to carry out these duties and responsibilities.
• To carry out occupational therapy assessments, intervention and evaluation of service provision for adults. (primarily those with complex needs.)
• To work in the context of an interdisciplinary setting and to liaise with and provide advice to team members and social work colleagues as required
• To liaise with and work in conjunction with other agencies as required
• To effectively monitor the progress of recommendations for works of adaptation and equipment. This includes review of provisions as required.
• To support and supervise the work of junior staff students and Occupational Therapy Assistants as delegated by the Team Manager so as to ensure consistent standards of good practice and activity within the team.
• To complete administrative tasks relevant to the caseload, in particular ensuring that the computer-based data system is properly populated to evidence activity, assessments and services. Case notes will be contemporaneous with activity
• To contribute towards the development of services to adults in the Vale of Glamorgan Council catchment area.
• To prepare for and attend supervision with the team manager or authorised designate.
• To attend team meetings and to lead and contribute to this as applicable
• Ensure compliance with the Council’s Financial Regulations, Standing Orders, Policies and Procedures
• To implement the principles of the Council’s Equal Opportunity Policy whilst carrying out the above duties
• To adhere to Health and Safety legislation / relevant Council policies and procedures and to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be adversely affected by your acts / omissions.
• To implement the principles of the Council's Environment Policy while carrying out the above duties.
• Such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade and in accordance with the general character of the job as may reasonably be required by the Chief Officer from time to time.
