Sports Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (Part-Time)

Are you passionate about sports and supporting young people with additional needs? We’re looking for an energetic and resilient Sports Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic Alternative Provision in South Tyneside.

Start ASAP and continuing into the new academic year (September 2025).

About the Role:
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being active, building relationships through sport, and supporting students who may struggle in mainstream settings. You’ll help lead physical activities and support learning, behaviour, and engagement both in and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting and leading sports sessions and physical activities
• Working 1:1 or with small groups of students with autism, ADHD, and SEMH
• Promoting teamwork, confidence, and positive behaviour through sport
• Assisting with classroom learning where needed
• Supporting afternoon enrichment sessions

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience in a school, coaching, youth work, or SEN/Alternative Provision setting
• Confident supporting students with challenging behaviour
• Passionate about physical activity and its impact on wellbeing
• Calm, consistent, and proactive
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
• Ability to drive a minibus is a strong advantage
