SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle 
Salary: £14.00 per hour
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday - 08.30-3.30
Start Date: December 2025

About the Role
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established special educational needs (SEN) school in the Newcastle area, seeking a caring and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You’ll help pupils develop confidence, independence, and essential learning skills in a nurturing and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support teachers in delivering creative and engaging lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils develop social, emotional, and academic skills.
  • Prepare learning materials and assist with classroom and outdoor activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth.
  • Support off-site educational visits and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning space.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A kind, compassionate, and patient individual passionate about supporting young people.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to meet diverse pupil needs.
  • A good communicator who builds positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Experience in an SEN or SEMH setting is desirable but not essential.
  • A willingness to learn and grow through ongoing professional development.
