Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (outdoor setting)
Location: South Tyneside
Hours: Part-Time - 9.30am-2.30pm
We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to support pupils within an alternative provision in an outdoor learning environment in South Tyneside.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with young people who may not thrive in mainstream education, supporting them through a more practical and engaging curriculum.
About the Role You will work with pupils with a range of SEND, including:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Behavioural needs and barriers to learning
Supporting the class teacher, you will help deliver hands-on learning activities designed to re-engage pupils and build confidence.
Key Responsibilities- Provide in-class and 1:1 support to pupils
- Build strong, positive relationships to support engagement
- Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Support the delivery of a personalised, practical curriculum
- Help maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:- Have experience working with SEND or SEMH pupils
- Be confident working in an outdoor or practical learning environment
- Be patient, resilient, and adaptable
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
