Job Details:
- Role: Refuse and Cleansing Operative
- Location: Caerphilly
- Employment Type: Temporary (12 weeks)
- Start Date: 7th July 2025
- Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Friday, with potential weekend/Bank Holiday shifts)
- Pay Rate: £12.85 per hour (PAYE) / £16.12 per hour (Umbrella)
What You’ll Do:
As a Refuse and Cleansing Operative, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents. Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing cleansing rounds, including litter picking, sweeping, and removing bulky waste.
- Assisting at Household Waste Recycling Centres, helping the public and ensuring sites are safe and tidy.
- Promoting recycling and waste minimisation initiatives.
- Supporting community events and delivering a customer-focused service.
- Operating equipment (e.g., pressure washers, strimmers) after training
- A flexible, customer-focused individual who can work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic awareness of waste management and a commitment to delivering excellent public service.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Strong communication skills to engage with residents and colleagues.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, Bank Holidays, and occasional overtime.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
Essential Requirements:
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Criminal Convictions Declaration and Confidentiality Agreement.
- Two years of references/work history.
- Manual Handling Passport Standard training (or willingness to undertake it).
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a customer-facing role or working in waste/cleansing services.
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
- Knowledge of the local area and its services.
- Forklift or LGV 1/2 driving experience is a bonus but not required.
