Salary: £13.69 per hour (PAYE) / £17.41 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: 29.5 hours per week (Monday–Thursday 09:00–17:00, Friday 09:00–16:30)
Contract: Temporary (Start 14/07/2025, 38 weeks)
Are you a highly organised and IT-savvy individual with a passion for supporting vital services? Network Recruitment Wales is seeking a Business Support Assistant to join a friendly and supportive Children’s Services team in Usk, Monmouthshire. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference by providing essential administrative support to social work teams dedicated to improving children’s lives.
What you’ll do:
- Manage incoming/outgoing correspondence (letters, emails, mail merges) and maintain accurate paper/electronic records.
- Handle administrative tasks including photocopying, scanning, printing, room bookings, transport, and hotel arrangements.
- Support data management, including database validation, updating records, and assisting with system transitions (e.g., PLANT database).
- Book meetings, manage diaries, and take minutes, occasionally travelling to meetings within or outside Monmouthshire.
- Process financial transactions (petty cash, invoices, purchase orders) and liaise with suppliers and finance teams.
- Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding referral calls, escalating serious issues to senior managers.
- Conduct file audits to ensure compliance with statutory guidelines and support data quality improvements.
- Assist with HR tasks, recruitment processes, and training new starters on systems like PLANT.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
What we’re looking for:
- Exceptional IT literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally an ECDL or equivalent.
- Recent administrative experience, with desirable skills in minute-taking, diary management, and data/systems management.
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) for literacy and numeracy.
- Strong communication skills, tact, diplomacy, and a commitment to confidentiality.
- A friendly, flexible, and proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Awareness of safeguarding, health, safety, and data protection practices.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and adapt to flexible working hours as needed.
Requirements:
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
- Two years of professional references/work history.
- On offer acceptance: Confidentiality Agreement and Criminal Convictions Declaration.
- Standard DBS check (Children and Barred List) required due to the role’s exemption from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
