Job Title: Gardener (Temporary)
Location: Newport
Contract: Temporary (28 weeks)
Start Date: 24th March 2025
Hours: 37 hours per week

Are you a passionate and skilled Gardener with a love for the outdoors?
We are seeking four enthusiastic and reliable Gardeners to join our client, a progressive and forward-thinking local authority, on a temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the beautification of our community by maintaining and enhancing our public green spaces.

Key Responsibilities:
Carry out a wide range of horticultural tasks, including grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, leaf clearing, and litter removal.
Plant and maintain trees, shrubs, and flowers.
Prepare and maintain sports facilities, including marking and setting out.
Operate and maintain various gardening equipment, including mowers, strimmers, and other small plant machinery.
Ensure the safe and efficient use of all equipment and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Contribute to the overall cleanliness and presentation of public areas.

Essential Skills & Experience:
NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent) OR a minimum of two years' proven practical experience in Grounds Maintenance work.
Possession of a current, full UK driving licence.
Experience in operating and maintaining gardening equipment.
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong work ethic and a proactive approach.

Desirable Skills & Experience:
Possession of a spraying certificate.
Experience in soft landscaping work.
Knowledge of plant identification and disorders.
First Aid qualification.
