(Rostered shifts including weekends and Bank Holidays. Typical pattern: 9:00am–5:00pm Monday–Thursday, 9:00am–4:30pm Friday) Salary:- PAYE: £13.05 per hour
- Umbrella: £16.83 per hour
Network Recruitment Wales is recruiting
four Street Cleansing Operatives to support a
one-off project/event within Newport City Council’s Waste & Cleansing Service. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces across the Newport area.
What You’ll Do:
- Carry out day-to-day street cleansing duties in line with contractual specifications and daily route schedules.
- Undertake refuse collection and environmental cleansing tasks as directed by Supervisors.
- Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including the correct use of council-issued uniform and PPE.
- Report accidents, incidents, defects, or hazards promptly.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, chargehands, and colleagues to meet service targets.
- Engage professionally with members of the public while delivering high standards of customer care.
- Attend training sessions when required and support service improvement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For:
- Knowledge of the Newport City area (essential).
- Experience working in street cleansing, refuse collection, or a similar operational service (desirable).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to meet targets and deadlines.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Physical stamina to undertake outdoor work involving walking, bending, lifting, and carrying in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to work rostered shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.
