Location: Usk, Monmouthshire
Employment Type: Temporary (16 Weeks)

Hours: 37 hours per week (5 days per week – 3 days office based; Mon locality NP15 1GA)
Salary: PAYE: £29.24 per hour |Umbrella: £39.32 per hour


Are you an experienced and dedicated Registered Social Worker looking for your next challenge? Network Recruitment Wales is seeking a committed Social Worker to join the Early Help and Assessment Team in Usk for a 16-week temporary assignment. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide vital support to children, young people, and their families while working within a friendly and supportive environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage a diverse caseload, including complex cases, completing assessments, reviews, reports, and attending Court when required.
  • Provide flexible, creative support and advice to children, young people, families, and carers in line with the Children Act 1989.
  • Complete high-quality assessments, analysing strengths, needs, and risks.
  • Develop outcome-led plans that build on family strengths and respond to identified needs and safeguarding requirements.
  • Implement safeguarding plans and support families to improve resilience and capacity.
  • Undertake office duty and respond to crises when required.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of services for children and families.
  • Work collaboratively within the team to support service delivery and improvement.
  • Supervise students where appropriate.
  • Build effective working relationships with foster carers and professional partners.
  • Maintain continuous professional development through training and supervision.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy, and best practice—and apply this within your role.
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records.
  • Work flexibly to meet service needs and undertake additional tasks as required.
  • Ensure safe working practices in line with Health and Safety policy.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Care Wales registration or equivalent).
  • Strong assessment (intake) experience — this is essential.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of childcare legislation and safeguarding practice.
  • Excellent communication, analysis, and report-writing skills.
  • Experience in multi-agency working and supporting children/families.
  • Ability to travel to the office and locality—candidates must live within approximately 1 hour of NP15 1GA.
  • A flexible, resilient, and child-focused approach to practice.

Essential Requirements:

  • 2 years’ references/work history
