Location: Brecon Enterprise Park, Brecon, Powys LD3 8BT
Employment Type: Temporary (12 weeks – almost certain to roll on)

Start Date: Monday 15 December 2025
Hours: Full-time 37 hours per week (hybrid working available)
Salary: PAYE: £29.22+ per hour | Umbrella: £37.51 per hour

The Role
This is the Principal Social Worker post in the Care & Support team – effectively the lead practitioner / practice educator for the whole South & Mid Powys area.

You will:

• Hold a small complex caseload (court work, high-risk CP/LAC)
• Provide daily practice leadership, mentoring & supervision support to the team
• Drive quality assurance, audits, and best-practice initiatives
• Deputise for the Team Manager when required

You must have

• Social Work qualification + current Social Care Wales registration
• 5+ years post-qualifying statutory children & families experience
• Proven recent experience at Senior/Principal Practitioner or Assistant Team Manager level
• Strong court work & complex case experience
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply immediately)
• Full driving licence & own car
