Are you a compassionate Registered Social Worker eager to support children and families? NRW People is thrilled to offer an exciting temporary role with Monmouthshire County Council, based at County Hall in Usk, covering the north of the county (Abergavenny, Usk, and Monmouth areas). Starting3 November 2025, this 20-week position (potentially extending to 6 months) provides family leave cover, offering a rewarding opportunity to thrive in a friendly and supportive team.What You’ll Do:

• Join the Family Support & Protection Team to assess and plan for children, young people, and families needing social care, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Manage complex caseloads, including Child Protection, private/public law, and adoption cases, preparing evidence and attending legal proceedings.
• Build relationships with children, families, and carers, developing outcome-focused plans to reduce risks and enhance resilience.
• Collaborate with multi-agency partners, supervise students (where applicable), and respond to crises with flexibility across Abergavenny, Usk, and Monmouth.

What We’re Looking For:

• A qualified Social Worker, registered with the Care Council for Wales, with experience in assessment and statutory interventions for children’s services.
• Strong communication and case management skills, with confidence in court presentations and multi-agency collaboration.
• Ability to work full-time (37 hours) and travel easily to Abergavenny, Usk, and Monmouth (must live within 1 hour of NP15 1GA—please include location and notice period).
• A dedicated team player ready to embrace a manageable caseload.

Essential Requirements:

• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• 2 years of references/work history (to be submitted with application).
• Signed Confidentiality Agreement (required upon offer acceptance).
• Criminal Convictions Declaration (required upon offer acceptance).
