Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday - Thursday 9:00 - 17:00, Friday 9:00 - 16:30)
Salary: PAYE: £14.13 per hour | Umbrella: £17.41 per hour 

Are you a reliable and skilled individual with a passion for supporting children’s services? NRW People is excited to offer a temporary Business Support Assistant role with Monmouthshire County Council, based at County Hall in Usk. Starting 20 October 2025, this 24-week position (potentially extending to 31 March 2026) provides vacancy cover pending review, offering a chance to join a friendly and supportive team.

What You’ll Do:
  • Manage incoming/outgoing correspondence (letters, emails, mail merges) for social work teams, ensuring timely and professional handling.
  • Maintain accurate records, conduct file audits, and respond to Data Protection Subject Access Requests (DSARs).
  • Support database validation, minute-taking (including travel to meetings), and administrative tasks like photocopying, room bookings, and stock control.
  • Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding referrals, recording contacts and escalating serious issues to Senior Managers.
  • Assist with finance tasks (petty cash, transactions) and HR support (recruitment, training), working initially in-office for 6 weeks, then hybrid.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A committed team player with exceptional IT skills (Microsoft Office), strong admin experience, and excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work full-time (37 hours) across the specified shift pattern, with flexibility for meetings across Monmouthshire/Gwent.
  • A solid work history, availability within 2 weeks, and residence within 40 minutes of NP15 1GA (please include location with application).
  • A helpful attitude, organisational skills, and understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding practices.
Essential Requirements:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • 2 years of references/work history (to be submitted with application).
  • Signed Confidentiality Agreement (required upon offer acceptance).
  • Criminal Convictions Declaration (required upon offer acceptance, with Standard DBS and Barred List Checks).
