Children's Social Worker (All Wales Pledge) – Family Support Team

Job Details:
- Employment Type: Temporary (12 weeks, covering vacancy pending recruitment)

- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Pay Rate: PAYE: £28.15 per hour | Umbrella: £36.16 per hour
- Location: Barry
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a mixed caseload of up to 20-22 children, including those on the Child Protection Register, requiring Care and Support, or involved in Care Proceedings.
- Collaborate with families, utilising their networks to minimise risks, develop long-term plans, and promote independence and resilience.
- Engage directly with children and young people, helping them identify what matters and achieve their goals through kind, consistent, and focused support.
- Participate in planning, reviews, and multi-agency work, including liaising with family aides, social care officers, and business support.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, such as the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, while maintaining accurate records and contributing to court proceedings as needed.
- Travel across the Vale as required to deliver services from the Docks Office base.

Requirements:
- Essential: Qualified social worker with registration on Social Care Wales.
- Essential: Proven experience in children's social work, particularly child protection, family support, and managing complex caseloads.
- Essential: Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
- Desirable: Knowledge of the All Wales Pledge principles and familiarity with Welsh Government safeguarding policies.
- Must have: Eligibility to work in the UK, Confidentiality Agreement, Enhanced DBS; 3 years of references/work history required upon offer acceptance.
- Ability to travel within the Vale of Glamorgan.
