Hours: 43 hours per week (March–October), 37 hours per week (November–March)

Join Our Team to Keep Monmouthshire Green and Vibrant! Network Recruitment Wales is recruiting a Ground Maintenance Operative on behalf of our client within the Community & Place, Commercial & Operations team. This temporary role is to cover long-term sickness and offers the chance to contribute to maintaining safe, clean, and sustainable public spaces in Monmouthshire.
What You’ll Do:
As a Ground Maintenance Operative, you will:
- Carry out grass cutting using hand-held and ride-on equipment in public spaces, schools, and contracted sites.
- Maintain horticultural features, including shrub beds and annual bedding areas.
- Perform landscaping, sports facility maintenance, and occasional arboriculture work.
- Support street services tasks, such as litter picking and responding to fly-tipping (optional waste collection on bank holidays).
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained and used safely in line with health and safety policies.
- Work within an annualised hours scheme: 43 hours per week (March–October) and 37 hours per week (November–March), with additional hours accrued as flexi-time for use between November and March.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a motivated individual with:
- A clean and current driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential).
- Experience in a similar grounds maintenance role and a good understanding of health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with strong communication skills and pride in delivering quality work.
- Flexibility to work outside core hours, including standby for emergencies (e.g., flooding, snow, or storms).
- Eligibility to work in the UK, plus 2 years of references/work history.
- Welsh language skills are desirable (Level 1 or above).
