Job Description
Are you looking for a new position as a SEND Teaching Assistant in Barking & Dagenham. If so, this may be the perfect position for you. Pertemps Education is working alongside a secondary school who are seeking to appoint an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support students of secondary age in their dedicated SEND resource base.
This will be a full-time, long-term position starting immediately till the end of the academic year. There will be an opportunity to go permanent upon review. The daily rate will be between £100 to £110 depending on your experience.

- Mixed secondary school and sixth form in Barking and Dagenham
- Caters for students aged 11 to 18 years old
- Broad, inclusive curriculum with strong SEND provision
- Dedicated resource bases for ASD and MLD
- Rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2024 for high standards, inclusive ethos, and excellent SEND support
- Provides a wide range of enrichment opportunities in sport, humanities, and the arts to enhance students’ personal growth
Key responsibilities:
- Able to work with students in KS3 and KS4
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Assisting students with Autism and/or additional learning needs
- Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class and minimise disruption
- Providing feedback to teachers and parents
The ideal candidate:
- Can work full-time, 5 days a week during term time
- Can work from 08:30 AM to 03:30 PM
- Have experience working with students with a range of SEND
- Be enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their full potential
- Comfortable working as part of a team and can form relationships
