Job Description

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Want a role where you can get stuck into classroom life straight away? Could you support pupils through 1:1 work, small-group tasks, and day-to-day classroom support while building experience for teacher training?

*** Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £85 - £105 per day
*** Large primary school, Yardley
*** 1:1, small group and general TA support

The Role:
Support pupils across the school through a mix of 1:1 help, small-group work, and general classroom assistance. You will reinforce learning in English and Maths, help children stay focused, prepare simple resources, and work closely with the class teacher to support progress. Teaching assistants commonly work across primary education and support teachers to enhance pupils’ learning.

The Candidate:
You are adaptable, positive, and able to communicate clearly with pupils and staff. You want broad primary school experience, you are happy working across different classroom situations, and you are keen to build the practical skills that support a future in teaching. Primary education focuses on the educational, social and emotional development of children aged 3 to 11, which makes this a strong starting point for teacher training.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.

The School:
This large primary school in Yardley is a strong setting for a graduate who wants variety and proper responsibility from an immediate start. You will join a busy team where classroom support matters, staff work closely together, and pupils benefit from targeted help throughout the school day. GOV.UK guidance says roles that fall within work with children are eligible for an Enhanced DBS check in the child workforce, with some roles also eligible for a Children’s Barred List check.

How to Apply
Apply today with your CV to be considered for this Graduate Teaching Assistant role. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss next steps and arrange interview. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.

Due to the high number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
