Job Description

SATs Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a graduate who wants hands-on Year 6 experience and clear impact before teacher training?

*** SATs Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £81 - £102 per day
*** ‘Outstanding’ primary school, Wolverhampton
*** 1:1 and small group SATs preparation for Year 6 pupils

The Role:
As a SATs Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support Year 6 pupils through focused intervention work in reading, maths, and SPaG. You will deliver structured 1:1 and small group sessions linked to the class sequence, using short tasks, clear modelling, and guided practice to secure key skills. In reading, you will build fluency, stamina, and accuracy with SATs-style questions, supporting pupils to retrieve evidence and explain answers clearly. In maths, you will reinforce arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, and reasoning by breaking steps down and checking understanding through quick questioning. You will help pupils improve speed and confidence under timed conditions, using past-paper practice and mini-assessments to identify gaps. You will track outcomes from each session, share key points with the class teacher, and adapt support so each session stays purposeful. You will also help prepare resources, organise groups, and promote calm routines so learning stays focused.

The Candidate:
You are a graduate who brings structure, calm, and high expectations to every session. You explain ideas clearly, keep pupils on task, and spot gaps fast through questioning and short checks. You take direction well, act on feedback, and build positive relationships so pupils feel supported and ready for SATs.

  • Degree at 2:2 or above in any subject
  • Strong literacy and numeracy, confident supporting reading, maths, and SPaG
  • Comfortable delivering 1:1 and small group interventions with clear outcomes
  • Patient, consistent, and confident managing focus and behaviour in small groups
  • Experience with children through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or volunteering is desirable
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply immediately

The School:
This Outstanding primary school in Wolverhampton sets high expectations and runs clear routines across the school day. Year 6 staff use assessment information to target gaps and keep pupils on track, so your interventions will link directly to classroom learning. The school is well organised, supportive, and focused on progress, with clear guidance and resources so you can deliver effective sessions from the start. You will be working in a team that values consistency, pupil wellbeing, and strong outcomes.

Apply Now:
Send your CV today to be considered. If shortlisted, you will receive a call to confirm your experience, availability, and suitability for Year 6 intervention work, followed by safeguarding and compliance checks. Once cleared, we will arrange the next stage with the school and support you through the process so you start quickly and confidently.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
