The Role:
You will work across classes to provide calm, structured support for pupils who need a little extra. Mornings focus on communication and reading fluency using matched texts and simple talk frames. Afternoons target early number, problem solving and independence habits. You will use visuals, first then prompts and short checklists to break tasks into clear steps, then fade prompts as confidence grows. You will plan brief regulation breaks, agree re-entry steps with the teacher and record quick notes on what worked so next actions are obvious. You will keep resources tidy, protect smooth transitions and follow safeguarding and behaviour procedures at all times.
 
The Candidate & Requirements:
You notice small changes, keep boundaries consistent and explain ideas in plain language.

  • Degree, 2:2 or above. Psychology preferred.
  • Communication, confident written and spoken English.
  • Enhanced DBS, held already or willingness to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education or with children, interest in SEN and wellbeing.
  • Experience supporting children, desirable but not essential.
 
The School:
This ‘Good’ Wolverhampton primary runs predictable routines from arrival to home time. Reading has daily practice with systematic phonics in lower years and guided reading in KS2. Maths is taught in small, connected steps with frequent low stakes checks so methods remain consistent between classes. Staff share behaviour language, visual supports and simple plan do review cycles, which keeps intervention aligned with classroom teaching. New colleagues receive a clear induction, weekly bite size CPD and short coaching drop ins with useful, actionable targets.
