The Role:
You will be a steady, reliable adult for pupils who need clear structure. In class you will break tasks into simple steps, use visuals and first–then cues, and set short goals that pupils can meet. You will run quick inputs for reading fluency, key vocabulary and number facts, then help pupils apply the learning back in the lesson. You will coach regulation with calm routines, planned movement breaks and smooth re-entry so learning restarts quickly. You will keep brief notes after each session, update intervention logs and agree next actions with the class teacher and SENCO. You will follow behaviour and safeguarding procedures and help keep starts, transitions and end-of-day routines calm.
The Candidate & Requirements:
You are patient, observant and direct in your communication. You keep boundaries warm and consistent and help pupils move towards independence.
- Degree, 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Enhanced DBS, held already or willingness to obtain.
- Genuine interest in SEN, Autism, ADHD and pupil wellbeing.
- Experience with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
The School:
This ‘Outstanding’ Wolverhampton primary runs predictable routines from arrival to home time. Staff use shared behaviour language, visual timetables and plan do review cycles, so support is joined up. Reading has protected daily time with phonics and guided practice. Maths is taught in small, connected steps with regular low stakes checks so methods stay consistent between classes. Teams co-plan and share model texts, worked examples and ready-to-use intervention packs, which keeps preparation efficient and ensures your work aligns with the curriculum. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite size CPD and focused coaching with practical next moves.
