*** ‘Outstanding’ primary school, Selly Oak
*** 1:1 and small group academic support in preparation for SATs examinations
The Role:
You will deliver planned booster sessions that align with the Year 6 curriculum and assessment calendar. In maths you will secure arithmetic fluency, fractions, decimals, percentages and multi-step reasoning. In reading you will build stamina, teach question types and practise evidence-based answers. You will model clear methods, guide practice and use short checks to spot gaps quickly. You will teach timing strategies, annotation and answer structure so pupils perform under test conditions. You will record brief outcomes after each session, update trackers and agree next steps with the class teacher so intervention stays in step with upcoming papers and mock results. You will help maintain calm starts, tidy resources and smooth transitions.
The Candidate & Requirements:
You explain ideas in small steps and keep sessions purposeful. You notice misconceptions early and help pupils work independently.
- Degree, 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication, strong written and spoken English.
- Enhanced DBS, already held or willingness to obtain.
- Desire to work in education or with children, commitment to KS2 progress and wellbeing.
- Experience working with children, desirable but not essential.
The School:
This ‘Outstanding’ Selly Oak primary runs consistent routines and uses shared resources across the year group. Reading has protected daily time with explicit vocabulary teaching. Maths is sequenced in small, connected steps with frequent low-stakes checks so methods are consistent between classes. Year 6 teams co-plan and share model answers, past-paper item banks and lean revision packs, which keeps preparation efficient and ensures your sessions dovetail with whole-class teaching. New colleagues receive a clear induction, weekly bite-size CPD and focused coaching with precise, usable next moves.
