Job Description

EYFS Graduate Teaching Assistant

Want to build early-years’ experience that prepares you for teacher training?

Help children secure early language, number and social skills through purposeful play.

*** EYFS Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £90 - £105 per day
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Yardley
*** 1:1, small group and general TA duties across the EYFS curriculum

What you’ll do:
Set up and rotate continuous provision, lead short adult-led activities, and provide 1:1 support where needed. You’ll model rich talk, extend play, and use simple observations (e.g., EYFS statements) to spot next steps. Expect phonics warm-ups, early number practice, fine-motor tasks, outdoor learning, and clear routines that help children settle and thrive.

Who you are:
A calm, organised graduate who communicates plainly, gets down to children’s level, and keeps sessions structured but warm. You follow guidance, notice what motivates each child, and keep the focus on independence.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear, confident written and spoken English.
  • Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in EYFS and early development.
  • Experience working with children – Nursery/school/mentoring/volunteering experience is desirable but not essential.

The School:
This ‘Good’ Yardley primary is two-form entry with settled routines from drop-off to home time. The EYFS unit is well resourced (indoor/outdoor zones, high-quality continuous provision, ample fine-motor and mark-making kits) and runs a consistent phonics programme with daily reading practice. Staff plan together and share simple observation sheets, language prompts and ready-made activity cards, so you can deliver quickly without reinventing resources. New colleagues get a clear induction, weekly bite-size CPD, and short coaching drop-ins with specific, usable pointers—ideal conditions to build a strong portfolio for ITT.

How to Apply
Email your CV and include your availability and DBS status (add two referees if you can). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and in-school observation. Apply early—the school may appoint before the closing date.

Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
