What you’ll do: Run short, high-impact boosters in reading, writing and maths for Years 3–6. Pre-teach key content, guide small groups, provide 1:1 catch-up, and coach pupils on study habits (retrieval, worked examples, timed practice). Set up simple resources, log quick progress notes, and agree next steps with class teachers.
Who you are: A reliable graduate who explains ideas plainly, keeps sessions purposeful, and builds rapport quickly. You’re organised, responsive to feedback, and motivated by measurable gains—especially for pupils who’ve lost confidence.
Requirements- Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
- Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Desire to work in education/with children – Strong commitment to inclusion and pupil progress.
- Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
The School: This ‘Good’ Wolverhampton primary is two-form entry with a diverse intake and calm, predictable routines. Reading is a whole-school priority (robust phonics lower down; daily guided reading and vocabulary work in KS2). Maths is taught through small-step sequences with frequent retrieval and manipulatives where helpful. Year teams plan together and share model texts, worked examples and ready-made intervention packs, so you’re never starting from scratch. You’ll get a structured induction, weekly bite-size CPD, and coaching drop-ins with actionable feedback—an ideal platform to make impact quickly and build a strong case for initial teacher training.
