Job Description

SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant

Want a paid role that builds real SEN experience ahead of teacher training or Ed Psych routes? Support pupils with Autism, EBD and ADHD through calm, structured guidance that makes learning stick.

*** SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** November start until July 2025
*** £81 - £101 per day
*** ‘Outstanding’ primary school, Ward of Hodge Hill
*** Autism, EBD and ADHD support on a 1:1 and small group basis

What you’ll do:
Work alongside the SENCO and class teachers to deliver tailored support. You’ll break tasks into manageable steps, use visual schedules and clear routines, and run short, purposeful interventions that build communication, self-regulation and core literacy/numeracy. You’ll capture quick progress notes and agree next actions with staff and parents so support stays consistent.

Who you are:
A reliable graduate with steady patience and clear communication. You follow support plans, keep boundaries fair and firm, and build trust quickly—especially with learners who find school challenging.

Requirements
• Degree – 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Strong verbal and written skills.
• Enhanced DBS – Held already or willing to obtain.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in SEN, behaviour support and pupil wellbeing.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (SEN support, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.

The School:
An ‘Outstanding’ primary in Hodge Hill with excellent systems, a skilled SEN team and well-resourced classrooms. You’ll receive practical coaching and regular check-ins so you can make impact quickly and grow professionally.

How to Apply
Email your CV and include your November availability, DBS status and two referees if possible. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and in-school interview/observation. Early applications are advised, as the school may appoint before the closing date.

Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
