SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant
 
Do you want practical school experience supporting pupils with additional needs before teacher training?
 
Could you deliver calm, structured small-group support for children with autism and ADHD?

*** £82 - £101 per day
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** ‘Good’ 2-form entry primary school, Yardley
*** Small group support working within autism and ADHD
 
The Role:
You’ll work with the SENCO and class teachers to deliver short, purposeful group sessions that build communication, social skills, and core literacy/numeracy. You’ll use visual supports, clear routines, and step-by-step tasks to help pupils access learning and regulate during transitions. You’ll note impact succinctly and share next steps with staff and parents.
 
The Candidate:
You’re a graduate with a patient, empathetic approach and clear communication. You follow support plans, keep boundaries consistent, and build trust quickly. You’re organised, reflective, and motivated to remove barriers to learning.
 
Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in SEN, behaviour support, and pupil wellbeing.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (SEN support, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
