Job Description

Teacher of the Deaf – Islington – January Start 
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher of the Deaf to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Islington. With a strong focus on accessibility, inclusion, and academic excellence, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students with hearing impairments. 
 
Pay: £170.00-£250.00 per day + SEN Allowance 
Location: Islington 
Start date: January 
Interview date: ASAP 
 
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and tailored lessons to meet the needs of students with hearing impairments. 
  • Use specialised teaching strategies and resources, including British Sign Language (BSL) and assistive technologies, to support learning. 
  • Work closely with students, families, and multi-disciplinary teams to create individualised learning plans. 
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to support both academic and personal development. 
  • Create an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment where students feel valued and supported. 
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development to enhance teaching practices and stay current with advancements in deaf education. 
 
Qualifications/Skills
  • A recognised teaching qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). 
  • Additional qualification in Deaf Education (e.g., Teacher of the Deaf qualification). 
  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) or a commitment to achieving proficiency. 
  • Experience working with children with hearing impairments, including the use of assistive listening devices. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues. 
  • A commitment to fostering independence and confidence in children with hearing impairments.
