Teaching Assistant – PRU – South Birmingham - ASAP Start 
A Pupil Referral Unit in South Birmingham is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support students who have experienced barriers to mainstream education. This is a rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning in a structured and supportive environment.

As a Teaching Assistant in this PRU, you will work with small groups of secondary-aged students, many of whom present with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. You will support learning in the classroom, provide 1-2-1 support where needed, and help students develop positive behaviours and routines.

Job Role:
• Supporting students in lessons across the curriculum
• Providing 1-2-1 and small-group support
• Helping manage behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
• Supporting students with emotional regulation and engagement
• Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff
• Encouraging positive attitudes to learning and personal development

You Will Need:
• Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
• Confidence managing behaviour in a classroom setting
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills
• A calm, resilient and patient approach
• Experience in a PRU, alternative provision or similar setting (desirable)
