Primary Teaching Assistant – Special School, East Birmingham
Are you a compassionate and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? A lovely special school in East Birmingham is seeking dedicated Primary Teaching Assistants to join their friendly and supportive team.

This nurturing school caters for children with a range of needs, including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Speech, Language and Communication Needs. As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping pupils to feel valued, supported, and motivated to learn in a caring and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
• Work 1:1 and in small groups with children who have additional needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being in the classroom.
• Encourage independence, communication, and social skills development.
• Provide support for pupils with personal care, where required.
• Help create a fun, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Record pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
• Contribute to a positive school culture where every child is supported to thrive.

Requirements:
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role.
• Experience working with children with SEND, particularly within a primary setting.
• A patient, understanding, and encouraging approach.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant (desirable).
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
