Primary Teaching Assistant – Special School, East Birmingham
Are you a passionate and caring Primary Teaching Assistant who wants to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? This wonderful special school in East Birmingham is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistants to join their supportive and nurturing team.

The school provides a warm, inclusive, and structured environment for children with a range of needs including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Communication Difficulties. As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them to access learning and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support children on a 1:1 and small group basis within the classroom.
• Assist the class teacher with the planning and delivery of engaging, tailored learning activities.
• Help to manage behaviour positively and promote emotional regulation.
• Encourage independence and social interaction through play and structured activities.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
• Support pupils with personal care needs if required.
• Record and report on pupil progress and achievements.
• Contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring classroom environment.

Requirements:
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a SEND or primary setting.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic nature.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for helping children with special educational needs.
• A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant (desirable).
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
