English Teacher – Alternative Provision

This exceptional alternative provision in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join their team, delivering English lessons to small groups of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students. The successful English Teacher will be part of a supportive and passionate team committed to helping students re-engage with education and achieve meaningful outcomes.

As an English Teacher in this alternative setting, you will plan and deliver creative, tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of students who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education. You’ll be supported by a strong leadership team, excellent pastoral support, and experienced teaching assistants who share your commitment to improving the lives of young people.

Job Role:

• Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to small groups of Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
• Inspire confidence in students and foster a positive attitude toward learning.
• Use creative and flexible teaching methods to help students achieve their GCSE English qualifications.
• Work closely with pastoral and support teams to remove barriers to learning.
• Promote literacy, communication skills, and personal growth in every lesson.
• Support students’ emotional well-being alongside their academic development.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4.
• Strong classroom management skills, particularly with learners who have SEMH needs or challenging behaviours.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• A commitment to making a lasting difference in students’ educational journeys.
