SEND Teaching Assistant – Birmingham
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them reach their full potential? A well-resourced special school in Birmingham is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a real difference to the lives of young people.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide both 1:1 and small group support, working with pupils who have a range of needs including Autism, MLD, and communication difficulties. You’ll work closely with experienced teachers and a supportive leadership team to create a positive, structured environment where every pupil can learn, thrive, and feel valued.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, social skills, and independence.
  • Assisting the teacher with planning, resources, and classroom activities.
  • Using strategies to support pupils with communication and emotional regulation.
  • Helping to manage behaviour positively and consistently.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a school setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable, not essential).
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • A commitment to supporting pupils with diverse needs to achieve their goals.
