SEND Caseworker – Liverpool £40.00 per hour Hybrid Working – Minimum 2 Days On Site Location: Parklands, Conleach Road, Speke, Liverpool, L24 0TY
Pertemps are recruiting an experienced
SEND Caseworker to support a Local Authority SEND service in
Liverpool. This is a hybrid role requiring a
minimum of two days per week on site, with the remainder worked remotely.
Role Overview: The SEND Caseworker will be responsible for coordinating the
statutory assessment and EHCP process for children and young people with SEND, working closely with families, schools, and multi-agency partners to ensure statutory duties are met and positive outcomes are achieved.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:- Supporting schools, settings, services, and families in applying the graduated approach to meeting SEND needs
- Coordinating the statutory assessment process for pupils with SEND, monitoring progress against agreed outcomes
- Managing the Education, Health and Care (EHC) planning process from assessment through to placement and review for a defined group of schools and settings
- Ensuring all statutory timescales relating to EHCPs are met
- Developing strong working relationships with SENCos, headteachers, and education settings, offering advice and practical support
- Working closely with internal services including SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, and wider partners across Children’s and Adult Social Care and Health to ensure a coordinated multi-agency approach
- Ensuring parents/carers and children and young people are central to all planning and review processes
- Attending annual reviews for vulnerable pupils, including Looked After Children, Continuing Care cases, and pupils at risk of exclusion, where appropriate
- Supporting the Local Authority’s commitment to ensuring children and young people attend maintained provision within Liverpool wherever possible
Person Specification:- Recent experience working within an education or Children’s Services environment, ideally as a SEND Caseworker or SEND Officer
- In-depth knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated SEND legislation, including SENDIST regulations
- Proven experience of coordinating statutory assessments and EHCP processes
- Experience of facilitating and leading review meetings
- Strong experience working in partnership with multi-agency teams to achieve positive outcomes
- Confident working with parents and carers, including managing sensitive and complex conversations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong IT capability, including extensive experience using Microsoft Office, with the ability to create complex spreadsheets and presentations
