SEND Caseworker Location: Knowsley
Hours: 36 hours per week
Rate: £32.82 per hour
Working Pattern: 2 days per week in the office (Mondays and Wednesdays)
Remote working may be considered for candidates with extensive SEND experience Tribunal experience is essential for this role.Role Overview Knowsley Council is seeking an experienced SEND Caseworker to join its SEND team. The postholder will be responsible for coordinating statutory assessment processes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring high-quality service delivery in line with legislative requirements and local authority standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate statutory assessment processes for children and young people with SEND
- Complete statutory assessments, including the production of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Review and monitor outcomes, ensuring provision is appropriate and effective
- Provide professional advice and guidance on the graduated approach across a range of educational settings
- Work closely with children, young people, parents, carers, and multi-agency partners
- Support tribunal processes and represent the local authority where required
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, good practice guidelines, and performance targets
Purpose of the Role To act as a SEND Caseworker, delivering high-quality professional advice and support while coordinating multi-agency statutory assessments for children and young people aged 0–25. The role contributes to the effective delivery of Knowsley’s statutory SEND functions in accordance with the Education Act 2002 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience working as a SEND Caseworker
- Proven tribunal experience
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory processes
- Experience producing EHCPs
- Ability to work collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals
- Strong organisational and communication skills
