Production Operative – Full-Time (39 hours per week) Working Hours:- Monday to Thursday: 07:45 – 16:30
- Friday: 07:45 – 15:00
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Two paid short breaks (AM & PM)
Pay Rate:- Starting at £12.78 per hour (please note: subject to change post-April annual review)
- Opportunities to increase your hourly rate with additional responsibilities:
- +£0.50/hr for Team Leader responsibilities
- +£0.50/hr for Testing responsibilities (ideal for technically competent individuals or qualified gas engineers)
- Further skill-based premiums may be added over time

Job Description As a
Production Operative, your key responsibilities will include:
- Mechanical and electrical assembly of water heaters, in line with build books, technical drawings, and management instruction
- Performing pressure and leak testing
- Conducting end-of-line function testing, including fault finding and basic rectification
- Working both independently and as part of a small, efficient team
- Maintaining high standards of quality and consistent repeatability in your work
- Following all health and safety protocols
- Carrying out other reasonable tasks across different areas of Production when required
Person Specification This hands-on, lead-by-example role would suit someone with a background in:
- Gas appliance manufacturing
- Equipment or machinery assembly
- Complex mechanical builds, ideally with testing or team leadership experience
You should be:
- Physically fit, as the role includes lifting and positioning heavier components
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and able to meet deadlines
- Reliable, trustworthy, and a strong team player
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings
- A strong communicator with a flexible approach – willing to support different areas such as electrical assembly, spares, sheet metal, or stores
Desirable qualifications and skills:- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, grade C or above
- A forklift truck licence (beneficial, but not essential)
