About the Role

A supportive and inclusive primary school in Greenwich is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team.

In this rewarding role, you will support young children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence in a nurturing environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider pastoral team to deliver tailored support that promotes positive engagement and progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN
  • Support children with speech, language, communication and social development
  • Deliver play-based learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Help implement EHCP targets and individual learning plans
  • Use strategies such as visual timetables, sensory resources and structured routines
  • Encourage independence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Support pupils during transitions, playtime and daily routines
Early Years support roles typically involve helping children develop social, emotional and academic skills while maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working in Early Years, nursery or primary settings
  • Experience supporting children with Autism, speech & language needs or developmental delay (desirable)
  • A patient, nurturing and proactive approach
  • Understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
  • Psychology, Education or Childcare qualification (desirable but not essential)
