Overview
On behalf of Buckinghamshire Council, Pertemps Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for an Education Support Worker to join the Youth Justice & Support team in Aylesbury. Working alongside the Education Officer, you will play an important role in ensuring that all children open to the Youth Justice and Support service have their education needs met. This includes engagement with statutory education, training or employment that is suitable to their needs and wishes, with a focus on removing potential barriers to them succeeding

Temporary – until January 2026
Hours – 18.5 hours per week
Pay Rate – £17.61 per hour PAYE
Start Date – ASAP
Work Schedule – Mix of office and remote working
Location – Walton House, Walton St, Aylesbury HP21 7QQ

About the role
As an Education Support Worker, you will have a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
  • Actively engage with children (with a particular focus on 16-18 year olds) to support their continued engagement or re-engagement into education/training or employment
  • Work in partnership towards reducing the number of children open to the service who are not in any form of education/training/employment
  • There will be a focus on developing strong links with education/training partners and employers to promote opportunities for children
  • This will be achieved through direct engagement with children, their parents/carers, education providers, professionals supporting the family
  • There is a requirement to be able to engage children 1-1 in these discussions and support with completing job applications, CV’s etc. Alongside attending meetings to advocate for children
  • An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position
 
About you
The successful candidate(s) should have:
  • A full clean UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is essential as this role involves travelling to sites across Buckinghamshire
  • Experience of working with children of statutory/post statutory school age in an educational or criminal justice setting is essential
  • Ability to engage and build effective working relationships with children and their parent/carers to bring about positive change is essential
  • High levels of IT skills which includes Excel and the proven ability to keep records updated is essential
