Overview of the Role:
Pertemps is seeking a motivated and self-driven Senior Communications Officer to join the expanding team at the London Borough of Harrow. This temporary role offers a competitive pay rate of up to £260 per day Umbrella PAYE (negotiable).

Main Purpose of a Senior Communications Officer:

• Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will be a key player in the Council's Communications function.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate integrated communications strategies and solutions to promote and support Harrow's services, policies, and objectives, manage reputation, change behavior, and promote resident engagement.
• Uphold and promote the reputation of Harrow Council in traditional and digital media.
• Advise senior officers, members, colleagues, and external partners on a range of reputational and communications issues.
• Work with senior officers and senior councillors, including the Leader and Portfolio Holders, on public affairs and lobbying campaigns.
• Contribute to the communications team's income generation targets.
• Respond to media inquiries promptly and effectively use the media to promote Council services, policies, and objectives.
• Play a key role in producing high-quality promotional materials and managing Harrow's main communications channels (internal and external) including Harrow People magazine, MyHarrow newsletter, social media, the website, intranet, Yammer, and the staff newsletter.

Requirements:

• Experience of working within a complex, political environment with practical understanding and experience of the challenges facing the public sector.
• Experience of working on projects to meet quality, time and cost deadlines
• Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating communications and engagement campaigns and projects as appropriate.
• Experience in working collaboratively with senior managers and portfolio holders/members.
• Experience of writing/creating engaging content for in-house publications, press releases, media enquiries and social media
• Experience of managing social media channels
