We are looking for a Network Service Technician to join Thames Water until March 2027, with the possibility of going permanent.
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company. We make a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km of pipes, to keep taps flowing and toilets flushing.

This is an exciting and varied customer-facing role where, day to day, you will be resolving customer network challenges to ensure minimal disruption to customer supply. You will be supporting a variety of projects, ensuring the best service is given to our customers.

Base Location: Kidlington – OX5 1QT, travel to other Thames Valley sites required
Hours: 38 hours per week, with a standby rota

What you will be doing as a Network Service Technician
  • Taking personal ownership of customer queries and complaints, and responding to and resolving issues at their homes or places of work
  • Working with contractors to do planned and unplanned work, investigating clean water networks to resolve poor performance, including high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries, and loss of supply out in the field
  • You will be supporting the operation of the mains network, including controlling burst mains, ensuring isolation to facilitate planned work, emergency repairs, and maintenance
  • Looking after valve operations, water sampling, valve checks and planning
  • Working in compliance with company procedures, including Business Operating Plans, Health & Safety, and Streetworks legislation
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role are:
  • A full UK licence is essential as travelling between sites will be required; a company van will be provided.
  • Have excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Have an enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
  • Be confident in completing hands-on tasks independently to the best of your ability.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Basic knowledge of domestic plumbing or water mains/leakage would be desirable.
What’s in it for you?
  • Salary up to £33,000, depending on skills and experience.
  • Annual Leave – 24 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 days, and a wider benefits scheme
  • Generous Pension Scheme through AON.
  • Generous Paternity Leave, including 4 weeks paid and an optional 2 weeks unpaid.
  • Enhanced Maternity Leave, 26 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half pay!
  • Access to lots of benefits to help you take care of yourself and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
