The Role We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a global manufacturing leader of electromechanical testing machinery. You will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of machines and accessories, ensuring all components are fitted to high precision standards.
Key Responsibilities- Mechanically assemble and build machines, including the fitting of wiring looms and electronic displays.
- Competently operate tool room equipment, including Pillar Drills, Manual Lathes, Manual Milling machines, and Horizontal Grinders.
- Fabricate special tools as required and maintain all associated tooling.
- Ensure all parts are adapted and collated for equipment testing while maintaining quality assurance standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances to ensure accurate assembly.
Collaborate with the Assembly Supervisor to report progress, manage drawings, and suggest improvements to working practices.
Requirements- Education: Apprentice-trained and time-served with an NVQ, HNC, HND, or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: A solid background in mechanical engineering with close-tolerance assembly skills in a machine-build environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of a variety of hand and machine tools.
- Attributes: A logical and innovative approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Compliance: Working knowledge of current Health and Safety best practices
