Job Description

As a Strategy Analyst within the Customer Strategy Directorate, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future direction of our Retail business. Working closely with the Head of Household Customer Strategy, you’ll turn intelligence into a clear, actionable strategy that advances our Retail operations. Your work will help define how we grow, compete, and deliver for our customers.

What you’ll be doing as a Strategy Analyst
  • You’ll support the design, development and implementation of a strategy for our retail business, identifying and evaluating strategic and commercial opportunities. You’ll lead analysis and research to influence future regulation and guide our strategic response. You’ll collaborate across teams to ensure insight-led, evidence-based decisions make a real impact on how we operate and deliver for our household customers.
  • Identify strategic opportunities that improve customer experience, reduce cost, enable compliance and drive efficiency · Challenge existing practices with fresh thinking and a forward-looking mindset using data, insight and lateral thinking to shape where we need to be in the future
  • Work collaboratively across teams on joint and interchangeable initiatives, building strong relationships to deliver innovative, joined-up solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance delivery, and implement smarter ways of working to get results faster.
  • Bring proven strategy and delivery experience, a passion for improvement, and a positive, ideas-led approach that helps us exceed expectations and continually enhance customer service.
Contract Type: Job shares welcome
Work Location: Clearwater Court, Reading. This is a Hybrid role with one day in the office each week

What you should bring to the role
  • Strategic Planning: Proven ability to shape and deliver clear, actionable strategies — turning big-picture thinking into practical, measurable plans that drive business success.
  • Insight and Analysis: Skilled in interpreting and benchmarking data, including regulatory insights, to inform decision-making and deliver efficiency improvements.
  • Influential Communication: Confident in presenting business cases in a clear, engaging way that supports senior leaders in making strategic choices.
  • Financial & Commercial Awareness: Strong grasp of financial principles, able to assess commercial opportunities, manage budgets, and link strategy to business performance.
  • Collaboration & Regulation: Experienced in leading cross-functional initiatives and navigating compliance or regulatory environments, ideally with exposure to the water sector.
