Contract: Permanent

We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join Thames Water as an Acoustic Logging Analyst, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where data-driven decision-making supports a more efficient and sustainable water network.

As part of our Locate team within the PALM (Prevent, Aware, Locate & Mend) model, this role plays a crucial part in driving down water leakage across the network. Working closely with both internal teams and external partners, you'll be responsible for the monitoring, analysis, and strategic management of our expanding estate of fixed acoustic loggers—from over 30,000 currently to more than 50,000 by the end of AMP8.

This role supports the broader Find & Fix strategy, a cornerstone of our leakage reduction program that targets a 36.7% reduction by 2029/30. As traditional leakage methods deliver diminishing returns, leveraging advanced technology such as acoustic loggers is key to delivering sustainable and measurable progress.

What will you be doing as an Acoustic Logging Analyst?
  • Monitor and Analyse Logger Performance
Provide detailed analysis, insights, and management support for the availability and operability of a growing estate of acoustic loggers—currently around 30,000 units, expanding to over 50,000 during AMP8—under the acoustic logger maintenance contract.
  • Reporting and Data Quality Assurance
Produce and deliver high-quality performance reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Identify and explain variances between actual, target, and forecast data. Always ensure the integrity and reliability of the reported performance data.
  • Logger Estate Oversight
Maintain oversight of logger functionality and data quality. Identify underperforming assets and support timely interventions to maximise return on investment.
  • Collaboration with Leakage Teams
Work closely with Leakage Optimisation and field teams to ensure loggers are deployed in the most effective District Metered Areas (DMAs). Conduct joint six-monthly reviews to evaluate deployment strategy and logger impact.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation
Identify and support innovation initiatives that enhance the performance and efficiency of the acoustic logging system. Contribute insights and analysis to inform the ongoing logger maintenance and deployment strategy.
  • Operational Support and Coverage
Provide day-to-day operational support and cover for the Acoustic Logging Lead when required, ensuring continuity in leadership and oversight.
  • Stock Control and Maintenance Coordination
Manage effective stock control and rotation for HWM acoustic loggers in line with the maintenance contract. Ensure equipment availability and minimise operational downtime.
  • Stakeholder Communication
Liaise with internal stakeholders and external partners to provide updates and insights on the logger fleet, including HWM, Ovarro, and Gutermann models. Support cross-functional coordination to maintain and enhance fleet performance.

What you should bring to the role
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in performance data analysis and insight generation.
  • Statistical reporting experience, ideally within an operational or utilities context.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience with Power BI, modelling software, or GIS systems is a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering customer-focused outcomes.
  • Experience working with or supporting field operations or technology deployment is desirable.

What’s in it for you?
  • Offering a salary up to £36,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
  • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
  • Contributory pension – Defined Contribution - Maximum of 12% -2x employee contribution
  • Personal Medical Assessments – Open to all once a year.
  • WeCare, a variety of health and wellbeing services for you and your family, including up to 10 specialist counselling sessions, 24/7 access to a virtual GP, get fit programmes and access to a nutritionist.
  • Benefits on Tap, access to discounts, cashback and instant vouchers.
  • Generous Paternity Leave, including 4 weeks paid and an optional 2 weeks unpaid.
  • Enhanced Maternity Leave, 26 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half pay!
  • Ongoing performance development reviews to help you be your best and identify growth opportunities.
